In a bold and unprecedented move that could transform the future of women’s college basketball, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has launched a first-of-its-kind NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) collective — created specifically for her women’s basketball players.
The new initiative, titled “HoopHer Legacy,” aims to provide six-figure earning opportunities for every scholarship player on the Gamecocks’ roster, combining local partnerships, national brands, and mentorship programs curated by Staley herself.
“We built a winning culture. Now we’re building generational wealth,” Staley said. “My players will leave here with rings and resumes. If we win together, we eat together.”

Sources close to the program say the collective is backed by a group of high-profile donors and companies who want to see South Carolina women’s basketball continue to set the national standard — not just on the court, but in empowering young women off of it.
The announcement comes just days after South Carolina wrapped another historic season, and has already caused a stir across college basketball, with fans, recruits, and media buzzing about the move.
“Leave it to Dawn to lead the charge. She’s not just coaching — she’s changing the game,” said ESPN analyst Andraya Carter.
Players flooded social media with reactions like “Queen stuff 🔥” and “She really loves us fr.”
This initiative, combined with a dominant team returning next season and another top recruiting class incoming, solidifies what fans already knew:
