Saturday’s matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees, originally scheduled for April 26, has been postponed.

The second game of the three-game series, originally set for a 1:05 p.m. ET start, will now be made up on Sunday, April 27, as part of a single-admission doubleheader. The first game will begin as planned at 1:35 p.m. ET, with the second game starting roughly 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first, according to an official statement from the Yankees.

“Today’s Yankees-Blue Jays game (Saturday, April 26) has been rescheduled due to the forecast of sustained inclement weather and will be made up tomorrow, Sunday, April 27, as the second game of a single-admission doubleheader,” the Yankees posted on X (formerly Twitter) on April 26, 2025.

Yankees Act Early to Postpone Due to Weather

While rainouts are always disappointing, credit goes to the Yankees for announcing the postponement well before game time, allowing fans with tickets to adjust their plans accordingly. Fans holding tickets for Saturday’s game won’t be admitted to Sunday’s doubleheader but will be able to exchange them for a future game.

The timing is especially frustrating for a Yankees team eager to bounce back from a tough Friday night loss. New York held a late lead before Devin Williams gave up three runs without recording an out, handing the Blue Jays the win. Despite the setback, the Yankees still top the AL East standings with a 15-11 record, narrowly ahead of the Boston Red Sox and the Blue Jays.

Saturday’s scheduled pitching matchup was set to be a highlight, featuring Max Fried for the Yankees against Toronto’s Kevin Gausman. Fried will now start Sunday’s first game, with Clarke Schmidt lined up for Game 2. For Toronto, Gausman and Chris Bassitt are expected to start, though the exact order hasn’t been finalized.

With Jose Berríos and Carlos Carrasco delivering a low-scoring game on Friday, fans could be in for more pitcher’s duels on Sunday. Look for big bats like Aaron Judge and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to possibly tip the scales in these tightly contested AL East battles.
