The Texas Rangers have made a notable move ahead of their series in Boston, recalling outfielder Evan Carter from Triple-A Round Rock and placing Leody Taveras on waivers. Taveras, one of the longest-tenured players on the team at 26, was claimed by the Seattle Mariners.
Carter had spent the season in the minors after struggling in spring training with a .158 average in 14 games. However, he showed improvement at Round Rock, hitting .221 with three home runs, nine RBIs, 13 walks, and six stolen bases in 21 games. Over the past two weeks, Carter has been in top form, boasting a .288 average and a .577 slugging percentage, with seven extra-base hits in his last 14 games.

Carter’s major league debut in September 2023 was nothing short of dazzling, as he hit .306 with five home runs and 12 RBIs in just 23 games. During the Rangers’ postseason run, he made a significant impact, hitting .300 and setting an MLB postseason record with nine doubles in 17 games.
Taveras had been with the Rangers since 2016 and debuted in 2020. He appeared in 30 games this season, batting .241 with one home run and eight RBIs.
