BREAKING: Yankees Tipped to Acquire $260 Million Cardinals Star in Potential Blockbuster Deal

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Arenado has been a focal point in trade discussions for months, yet his massive contract and full no-trade clause have complicated any potential move. Despite those challenges, his strong start to the season could push the Cardinals to explore aggressive trade options.

According to Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly, Arenado may be open to waiving his no-trade clause for a deal to the New York Yankees—a team currently seeking an upgrade at third base. Kelly predicts that such a scenario is becoming increasingly realistic.

While Arenado still has two seasons remaining on his eight-year, $260 million contract signed with Colorado, the structure of the deal could work in New York’s favor. He will earn $31 million annually for his age-35 and age-36 seasons, with a $25.55 million luxury tax hit in 2026 and 2027—making it a manageable commitment for a big-market team like the Yankees.

Kelly points out that the Yankees could benefit greatly from Arenado’s bat, especially when compared to the .705 OPS currently being posted by Oswaldo Cabrera at third base. Additionally, reuniting Arenado with former teammate Paul Goldschmidt might help fuel a deep postseason run for New York.

The biggest obstacle remains Arenado’s no-trade clause, but should he agree to waive it, a deal could materialize quickly.
