The Cincinnati Reds have officially recalled right-hander Chase Petty from Triple-A Louisville, with the 21-year-old scheduled to start Tuesday’s home game against the Chicago White Sox in place of the injured Hunter Greene.
Petty, the Reds’ No. 6 prospect according to MLB.com, gets another shot at the majors after an impressive outing in Triple-A earlier this week, where he tossed six no-hit innings with eight strikeouts. The call-up follows news that Greene was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right groin strain.

This marks Petty’s second stint in the big leagues. He made his MLB debut last August in a rough outing against the Cardinals but has since shown signs of growth and improved command in the minors.
A 2021 first-round pick originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins, Petty was acquired by the Reds in the trade that sent Sonny Gray to Minnesota. The Mainland Regional High School (NJ) product, known for his high-octane fastball, will look to show why he’s one of the most promising young arms in Cincinnati’s farm system.
Petty becomes the latest Millville-area player to reach the majors, joining Mike Trout and Buddy Kennedy as proud representatives of the South Jersey baseball pipeline.
