MAJOR BOOST: Rangers Bring Back Power Bat After Minor League Tear — A Big Hope to Ignite the Offense

The Texas Rangers have brought back infielder Jake Burger from Triple-A Round Rock, the team announced Monday afternoon. Burger, acquired in a high-profile offseason trade with the Miami Marlins, was sent down earlier this month after a slow start to the season. He had been hitting just .190 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in the majors.

Hoping to reset his approach at the plate, the Rangers optioned Burger on May 2, and the move appears to have paid off. In six games with Round Rock, he hit .391 with two homers and six RBIs, earning his way back to the big-league roster.

To make space for Burger, the Rangers optioned Blaine Crim back to Triple-A. Crim recently made his MLB debut against the Seattle Mariners but went hitless in 11 at-bats, though he did score a run and draw a walk.

The Rangers are aiming for a third straight win as they face the Colorado Rockies on Monday evening at Globe Life Field.
