We Can’t Keep Him Down Much Longer: Avalanche’s Hottest Prospect Set for NHL Promotion by June 1 After Dominant Start in AHL

The Colorado Avalanche may soon receive a major boost as one of their most promising young stars, Jean-Luc Foudy, is reportedly set for a promotion to the NHL roster by June 1. After a dominant start with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL, the speedy forward has made a convincing case that his time in the minors has run its course.

Foudy, 21, has exploded out of the gates this season, registering 9 goals and 18 assists through just 22 games — leading the Eagles in total points and ranking among the AHL’s top performers. His quick acceleration, elite puck-handling, and improving two-way play have drawn high praise from both development staff and scouts across the league.

“He’s been the heartbeat of the Eagles’ offense all year,” one Avalanche front office member noted. “At this point, it’s not a matter of if — it’s when.”

The Avalanche, currently battling for playoff position, could use Foudy’s spark to energize their middle-six forward group. His versatility as both a winger and center offers the team flexibility, especially as injuries and inconsistency have tested Colorado’s depth throughout the season.

Foudy made his NHL debut briefly last year, showing flashes of his potential in limited ice time. Now, with added confidence and a stronger overall game, the organization appears ready to give him a more permanent role.

If promoted as expected, Foudy would be joining a roster headlined by stars like Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, offering him an excellent opportunity to grow in a high-caliber environment. His presence could also open the door for the Avalanche to experiment with new line combinations down the stretch.

Avalanche fans have been eagerly following his development, and now, it looks like the wait is nearly over.

Barring any setbacks, Jean-Luc Foudy could be wearing the Avalanche sweater again before the calendar turns to June — and this time, he might be here to stay.
