The Michigan Wolverines have wasted no time solidifying their place in the race for the top quarterback in the 2027 class — and it appears the finish line may be in sight.
After a series of decisive recruiting moves and a strong spring visit, Michigan is now firmly in the driver’s seat for four-star quarterback Kavian Bryant, widely regarded as the No. 1 signal-caller in the country by On3. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound standout from Palestine, Texas, has been at the center of a national recruiting battle — but Michigan’s efforts, led by offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, have propelled the Wolverines ahead of the pack.

Lindsey, who recently helped land top-100 2026 QB Brady Smigiel, visited Bryant in Texas last week for what sources close to the program say was a “final check-in” before Bryant makes a highly anticipated second visit to Ann Arbor in early June — a visit many believe will mark the beginning of the end of his recruitment.
Bryant, who boasts offers from Texas A&M, Florida, Tennessee, TCU, Oklahoma State, and more, took a visit to Florida State back in February. However, Michigan’s culture, quarterback development, and clear plan for the future have reportedly made a deep impression. According to several insiders, he has already begun forming relationships with future Wolverines and has privately indicated Ann Arbor feels “like home.”
Bryant is currently ranked No. 6 overall in the 2027 class by the On3 Industry Composite and is projected to be a day-one starter wherever he lands. With Michigan continuing to reload at quarterback — from Jadyn Davis to Bryce Underwood to Smigiel — Bryant’s commitment would further elevate the program’s long-term outlook.
While an official announcement date has not yet been confirmed, sources expect Bryant to make a public commitment shortly after his next visit, barring any late changes. For now, all signs point to Michigan locking down the top quarterback in the 2027 class — a move that would only strengthen the Wolverines’ resurgence under head coach Sherrone Moore.
