The St. Louis Cardinals have elevated one of their most exciting young outfielders, Travis Honeyman, to High-A Peoria following a strong showing at Low-A Palm Beach.
A third-round selection in the 2023 MLB Draft, Honeyman impressed in his first full professional stint, posting a stellar .321/.446/.443 slash line. Over 29 games, the former Boston College standout recorded 5 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs, 8 RBIs, 7 stolen bases, and drew 20 walks. Given his advanced age compared to most Low-A competition, the organization felt it was time to present him with a tougher test.

Honeyman’s season began conservatively at Low-A due to his injury-shortened 2023 campaign, which was limited to just 20 games after shoulder surgery. Despite the setback, he had been productive prior to the injury, hitting .342/.415/.493 between the Florida Complex League and Palm Beach.
Now 23 years old, Honeyman has predominantly played center field this season, appearing in 26 games at the position and 2 in left field — all without committing a single error across more than 223 innings. He’s expected to rotate across the outfield alongside fellow prospect Zach Levenson.
In his High-A debut Tuesday night, Honeyman notched his first hit with a 1-for-3 performance and also drew a walk. However, his second game was cut short when he pulled up while running to first base, clutching his calf before exiting early.
The severity of Honeyman’s injury is still unclear, but once healthy, he’ll continue to be a player to watch as he progresses through the Cardinals’ system.
