The Dallas Mavericks added Klay Thompson and Naji Marshall to their roster this offseason to offer some depth, but they went to a familiar face to provide leadership and positive energy in the locker room.
Morris, 35, played 26 games for the Mavericks last season providing deep bench support. He averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game and demonstrated his ability to be a big, strong player when needed to make 3-pointers.
He has a great relationship with Kyrie Irving and provided the club with experienced leadership in the locker room,
Other than the fact that the Mavericks could only give the veteran minimum, we are unaware of the specifics of Morris’ contract.Dallas already has 14 guaranteed contracts, plus a partially guaranteed one at $2.1 million with A.J. Lawson. Should Morris’ contract be guaranteed, the Mavericks would have to cut Lawson or one of the guaranteed contracts as they have completed their roster.
