Controversy: Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gives savage take on Harrison Butker speech drama

It’s the first time Reid has addressed the delicate situation.

The Kansas City Chiefs can’t seem to stay out of the national spotlight this season. Some of their players, including outstanding wide receiver Rashee Rice, have been arrested. Now, Harrison Butker has been a huge talking topic due to his controversial comments.

Many have been shocked owing to the nature of Butker’s remarks. Although a lot of people don’t agree with what he was attempting to communicate, his head coach looks to be actively backing him anyway.

Andy Reid finally broke the silence on Butker’s issue on Wednesday, when he was prodded by the media to comment about how he felt about the speech. And he grabbed the chance to take a jab at the reporters.

“I don’t think he was speaking poorly of women. He has opinions and we all respect that. I let you guys (the media) in this room and you have a lot of opinions I don’t like.”

It’s a fair argument from Reid, who’s used to having to deal with criticism regarding the way he instructs and frequently has his words studied under a microscope. Reid and the Chiefs are standing with their kicker for the time being.
